Visitor guides for travellers with access needs are becoming more commonplace. These assets provide certainty for visitors when their in-region and for those planning a trip.
The Access Agency and Inclusive Tourism Australia partnered with Queensland Country Tourism (QCT) design and create a region-wide access guide.
With a bold new brand and ambition to become more accessible and inclusive, we worked together to create a detailed and comprehensive guide, covering seven regions. Site audits were undertaken in a phased approach with the data points being synthesised and made consistent and clear.
Toowoomba, Central Queensland Highlands, Goondiwindi, Lockyer Valley, Somerset, Southern Downs and the Western Downs are all covered in this handy accessible guide. The guide is available as an accessible PDF and printed guide (from some Visitor Information Centres).
Providing key information about accommodation and places of interest like parks and toilets, the guide has clear maps and drive times and other information crucial for planning a trip.
“We’re incredibly proud of this work and will be showcasing it at the 3rd International Conference on Accessible Tourism in Torino, Italy.”
